The Elder Scrolls - Chapter One: The Arena

Maker: Bethesda Softworks

Year: 1994

Rating: 2.8/5

Size: 8.8 MB

The first thing you'll notice about the arena is the presence of a storyline. The amount of character classes are impressive, totaling 15. This game looks better and better as you progress to the actual gameplay. Then things change. The graphics are weak, and too dark (it's a dungeon, we get it, now make it light enough to see). The controls are unavailable and must be figured out. I still haven't figured out how to attack, making the game unplayable. I know how to get he fists out and then nothing happens even if I click on the monster. Overall the gameplay is quite pathetic. Movement will be choppy in DOSBox unless you speed up the Cpu Cycles (press Ctrl+F12) and you have to click on things multiple times to select them. Unless you are a fan of the sequels and want to see where it all began, I suggest moving on to another game.
