Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe

Maker: Image Works, Bitmap Brothers

Year: 1992

Rating: 4/5

Size: 449 KB

Overview:

The sequel to Speedball showcases better graphics and more in depth game play. Speedball is a pretty simple sport. Throw the ball into the opponents net. You can hit the opponents players, including the goalie (and they will do the same to you) to gain an advantage. You can also score by taking advantage of some of the bonuses, such as using the bounce domes.

In Speedball 2, you can play knockout, league, cup or practice. In knockout, you play against progressively harder opponents until you lose. A league game lets you control a team for a longer period of time, playing the role of general manager and coach. Cup mode is a four round knockout tournament. Practice lets you try out moves in an environment with no opponents. If you want to play a two player game, you are given the option of choosing between a single match, and 3 or 5 game series.

The controls are a drag to get used to. It seems that they can't be configured either. Q and A move up and down, while O and P move left and right. Space is the action button, used to shoot, tackle, etc.
